CAMEROON 2013 – Ken 10-10-13

Ken: Hello from Cameroon, Africa! It has been non-stop from the time we arrived late Tuesday. Our host Serges has been incredibly accommodating to Kurt and me. We were welcomed by a small army of the Festi Gospel Jam musicians at the airport. Wednesday Serges gave us a short tour around the city of Yaounde,Cameroon, first to the US Embassy to register our presence, as well as talk to the Public affairs office. We spoke with a sweet woman, named Gladys, who turns out is a believer and was interested in helping promote the conference we will be holding with Festi Gospel Jam this weekend. We then went to several local churches, and were welcomed by their Pastors. These are hard working men who have a heart for this city and expanding ministry to other parts of Africa.

Last night we went to not one, but two very different worship services. These people know how to worship! Their singing and praise is passionate and LOUD!! I’m not sure I’ve heard anything quite like it from most contemporary churches in the US. Later into the night we finalized details for the Worship Conference with Serges and his FGJ Team.

Today we spent a long day preparing for the Worship Conference this weekend, such as preparing equipment. We had an AMAZING rehearsal with all the Festi Gospel Jam musicians, whose talent is simply STUNNING!!! After rehearsing Kurt’s songs and preparing some corporate worship music of familiar songs, the Festi musicians did half a dozen songs of their own work, which blew us away with how good they were – fresh, creative, and literally jaw dropping.

Having been here a few days now, we can see how the needs here in Cameroon are great – Socially, Economically, and Spiritually. Thank God for the hard work that Serges and his team are doing, and depending on God to work through them. I am looking forward to what God will do this weekend.
